Sam Houston and the Alamo Avengers: The Texas Victory That Changed American History

This book by Brian Kilmeade brings American history to life, with the retelling of how Texans fought for independence against Mexican President Santa Ana’s troops. Because people forget, the Alamo battle was a massive defeat. Texas independence was only won out of revenge. The victory six weeks after the Alamo was led by Sam Houston and consisted of only a small army of settlers. The war was won in only eighteen minutes, an incredible story that makes a history lesson into an engaging novel. Kilmeade writes a close examination of the history that led up to the battle. He follows several key people through to their deaths both during and after the war. Many find the strategy behind this battle very intriguing, and this is a great piece of history on how Texas won its independence. Non-fiction best sellers are hard to come by, but we believe this is one you cannot pass up on.

“We Texans know how special our history is. Now, thanks to Brian Kilmeade’s new book, the rest of the country can also celebrate the way defeat gave way to glory.”
