This new decade has been very strange and unusual, and as consequence, all of the fashion trends are now unpredictable and unexpected. This is a time where wearing sweatpants and Crocs became a peak trend. And dressing in lounge and comfort attire in and outside the house were just a couple of things that became the new norm. Here’s a compiled list of all the fashion trends that are shockingly relevant right now.

Sweat Suits

People wearing a full sweatsuit used to really get under my skin, but now it’s kind of a look. Comfort has now reigned over forcing yourself in something professional or sexy. Somehow we’ve collectively decided that sweatsuits were going to be the fashion piece for the foreseeable future. And why not? It’s far too comfortable to give it up.

Cashmere Lounge Sets

They look expensive because they are. Most celebrities were spotted this year wearing a lounge or even a knit lingerie set. We picked it up rather quickly. We even saw homemade designers going to Walmart buying Cashmere blankets and making the sets themselves. Zara also introduced more affordable alternatives that are comfy and elegant. So soft and fitting that it looks fashionable. Though this may not last long, due to the high cost and relatively low value.

Crocs

In such the same way we did a complete 180 on comfy clothes, we went from cracking jokes about Crocs to owning one in every color. Crocs were shoes I previously owned for doing small tasks around the house. But now I own three more pairs and honestly, they are ridiculously comfortable. Especially now that they have a winter collection that is certainly worth checking out.

“Love ’em or hate ’em, you can’t deny that Crocs are comfy. While not everyone finds them aesthetically appealing, they’ve still surged in and out of popularity.”

The List on Crocs

Biker Shorts

I believe we should all thank Kim Kardashian for this trend. When Kim K hit the streets wearing the newest season of Yeezy’s in 2018, everyone bought a pair. The same thing happened with biker shorts, and we’ve been obsessed ever since. Whether you wear them in the spring with a T-shirt or in the winter with an oversized hoodie with boots, I don’t think there’s a way to wear them incorrectly. It’s such a simple piece that I truly think won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Bucket Hats

Not my favorite trend but definitely one that I think will follow us forever. From TikTokers to Instagram influencers, there isn’t a time where I don’t see someone sporting a bucket hat, especially when it’s pastel. It is a cute look and can really make an outfit look chic. There’s also quite a number of ways to wear one, with many different colors and forms. There’s even some fuzzy bucket hats that are gaining momentum. It really is timeless, and we will see continue to see bucket hats make an appearance in the spring and summer months to come.

“They can be styled many different ways, becoming the perfect accessory to a laidback outfit, or topping off a more dressed up look.”

Telfar Bags

Right in a time where Black-owned small businesses are being championed by the public, these simple leather bags were made by self-taught designer Telfar Clemens. These bags were used as a statement piece by young Black influencers. Ranging from $150-$257, this item is actually affordable and accessible to a large number of people. Oprah included the bags in her annual Favorite Things list.

Patchwork Jeans

Denim is always in style. Patchwork jeans however, are jeans with an added splash of color. They are super cute, and make any outfit look fashionable. Pairing it with a simple top, and you still look like you just waked off the runway. I hope this trend sticks around for a while.

Chunky Headbands

I haven’t worn a chunky headband since middle school. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see women rocking them so recently as a fashion piece. They look stunning covered in rhinestones, and offer a halo effect around the head. This piece can really make an outfit look more preppy. This is surely one to stick around, so invest now.

Oversized clothing

Oversized clothing isn’t a wardrobe malfunction anymore. Pairing a crop top with super oversized pants actually enhances the curves of your body. Women look so Hollywood wearing clothes that fit compared to pairing it with an oversized coat. I think it goes with the comfort vibe of this era. This trend has faded in and out of time for years, but it has definitely made its mark, as now we’re emphasizing comfort over practicality. Now that people are bringing comfort out on the streets, I think this trend will stick around for years to come.

Straight Leg Jeans

High-waisted skinny jeans used to be the norm; but it’s become clear that now we’re doing straight leg jeans instead. Easy to wear and they go with just about anything, especially a good ankle boot. Straight leg is easy to dress down or up so it’s good for all occasions. Though I think jeans come in and out of style so often that skinny jeans will make a return, or we could keep going bigger and start a flared jean trend.

Tie Dye

And here’s a trend that blew up just because it’s fun. Thousands of people started making homemade tie dye to revive the clothing they have. It’s a great way to save money and kill a few hours, but it does leave you with a mess. People will always wear tie dye, but lets hope it wasn’t made in their bath tubs.

I can’t deny that I have participated in many of these trends. Most are from preference to what I like and needed, but just because it may not be on trend doesn’t mean you can’t wear it.
